Taekwon-Do is a modern day martial art; it is dynamic, diverse and disciplined. It isn’t about learning to fight, to the contrary, it is about not having to fight. This may seem strange to the lay person and we shall endeavour to explain.
The word Taekwon-Do literally translated is:
• ‘Tae’ stands for kicking, jumping, flying or smashing with the foot.
• ‘Kwon’ denotes the fist – chiefly to punch or destroy with the hand or fist.
• ‘Do’ means the art or the way – the right way built by Saints and Sages of the past.
Taekwon-Do therefore, could be considered to practitioners as having 3 distinctive elements: The Physical, Mental and Moral.
